Library & Information Science is a study of knowledge communication phenomena required for human intellectual activity such as knowledge, information gathering, accumulation, search and delivery, contributing to realizing core value of knowledge in information society. To this end, the Department of Library and Information Science not only teaches fundamental theories of library and information science, but also emphasizes the complexity of library and information science, educating various subject service competencies, and applying new information technology as information service channels. Specific education and research fields are as follows.

  • Collection and management of records and bibliographic information

Career Prospect

  • Librarian
    • The library is an institution that socially controls and provides the contents of the recorded intellectual property, so the librarian should be able to know the user, know the data, and connect the user with the data. These librarians are classified as professionals based on their essence, educational system, qualifications system, group composition, code of ethics, service method and content. They are classified as first class regular librarian, second class regular librarian, pre-librarian, subject-specialized librarian, and librarian teacher.
  • Archives manager
    • Archives manager should establish records management policies and procedures based on the general policies of their institutions, intellectually and physically control records, establish physical management environment for records, protect records, set record retention periods, evaluate potential preservation value, review and enforce record abolition, transfer records to archives and train institutional record management. The record manager needs to work closely with the archivist to do his or her job.
  • Database Expert
    • A database expert is a person who builds and analyzes various databases used in a computer. Paper-based materials have been converted into text files, and recently into multimedia files such as pictures, movies, and sound files. A collection of information that records such files and various business activities is a database, and a system that manages these is a database management system (DBMS). It is no exaggeration to say that this is the core of computerization of domestic companies. Database experts can join various companies, media companies, and intelligence agencies.
